Dr. Emily Love is a native of Mobile, Alabama. She chose to stay close to home and play volleyball right down the road at Spring Hill College where she graduated with a BS in Biology.
Her optometry degree came from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. During her time at UABSO, she was highly involved with the American Optometric Student Association where she served on the Board of Trustees and was a PAC local liaison. She completed her American Academy of Optometry Student fellowship before graduating. She also traveled locally and abroad with Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity, Equal Access Birmingham, and Remote Area Medical to perform eye exams to underserved people.
Dr. Love received notice for her involvement by being inducted into the Gold Key International Honor Society. She completed her Ocular disease residency at Omni Eye Services of Atlanta, a MD/OD multidisciplinary practice and the first Optometrist Co-Management Center in the nation. There she was exposed to a large spectrum of ocular ailments from anterior segment disease, cataract, retinal, surgical pre- and post-op, and glaucoma care. She also gained experience in emergency on-call as well.
Dr. Love has written publications for Foresight Magazine and Review of Optometry, and she has produced a poster and live presentation for SECO International. She is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Connecticut Optometry Association. She is currently working towards her AAO fellow and ABO certification.
