Eyelid Lift Surgery / Blepharoplasty in Fairfield
Eyelid lift surgery (blepharoplasty) is performed to address age-related aesthetic concerns of the upper and/or lower eyelids, including droopy eyelids, excess fat, skin and muscle, and unsightly bags below the eyes. All of these conditions can make a person look tried and less vibrant. Droopy upper lids can also interfere with clear vision. Improving the appearance of the eyes by correcting nagging excess skin and other signs of aging dramatically improves the overall appearance of the face and restores facial youthfulness.
Eyelid Lift Surgery: The Procedure
Eyelid lift surgery can be performed on either the upper or lower eyelids, or both. During the operation, excess skin, fat and muscle are removed and the remaining tissue is tightened and sutured in place with fine, dissolvable stitches. The incisions for upper blepharoplasty are placed in the natural creases of the eyelids. They heal quickly with minimal postoperative scarring. Lower blepharoplasty incisions are generally created on the inside of the lower eyelid and are essentially undetectable.
Depending on the extent of the procedure, eyelid lift surgery is performed under local or general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. Blepharoplasty of the upper eyelids only is generally completed in 30 minutes, and surgery time for all four eyelids is typically less than two hours.
